Some new physics-based techniques have been developed recently for remote acoustic sensing of oil in the sediment, on the bottom surface, and in water column. I believe these techniques can be used to refine existing software for this (SOMs) application. Anatoliy, ** you don’t have permission to see this link **, 206-616-4808

We have existing hardware and software for remote substrate classification using scientific sonar.  Recently, we demonstrated (USCG / DHS) the ability to perform this classification for substrate with quantities of oil.  This technology is COTS, ready to go now.  Although not specifically refined for this application, there is support for the use of this technology to locate and assess SOMS.  For more information, please see ** you don’t have permission to see this link **
