I am interested in collaborating on projects related to the impact of the oil spill on wetland nutrient cycling and carbon storage.  Would like to collaborate with Gulf Coast university with the objective of comparing impacts of oil spills on east coast and west-coast estuaries.  Funding available for west-coast studies from non-BP sources.

My research group at the University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA) has capability to measure low levels of N & P species in water and sediment pore water samples.  We also have capabilities for elemental C, O, N, S analysis of plants, soils, and sediments.  We have extensive experience with measurement of mass balance and transformation processes in wetlands impacted by non-point source pollution.  We have extensive GIS and statistical data analysis experience.  Extensive experience with continuous monitoring and measurement of flows in natural wetlands.  Collaborated on initial investigations of BP spill in the open ocean, co-authored publication in Science on spill.

Propose to begin collaboration by measuring nutrients and elements in samples from field sites or from laboratory experiments conducted by Gulf Coast University.
