Where can our consortium obtain oil (like the Macondo crude spilled during the Deepwater Horizon blowout) and Corexit?

All proposals involving analyses of samples to determine the presence and concentrations of oil compounds should make provisions in their budget to purchase an adequate supply of National Institute of Standards and Technology Standard Reference Material 2779 “Gulf of Mexico Crude Oil” to use in their Quality Assurance / Quality Control procedures.

For research concerned with fates and effects of oil without or with dispersants (or similar experiments), those submitting proposals should be aware that BP no longer maintains sample material in any form for the purpose of this research program.  Other sources of petroleum (gas and oil) needed to conduct proposed research must be clearly identified in the proposal.
