Opportunity: Software Applications Developer II with GRIIDC at TAMU Corpus Christi
– MAY 11, 2017
Join our team! We are developing a free, open-source software solution to promote open data and open science. The Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative Information & Data Cooperative (GRIIDC) is a team of scientific researchers, data specialists, and computer system engineers supporting the development of a data management system to store and share scientific datasets generated by Gulf of Mexico researchers. We use an Agile-based process to maintain and improve an operational system.
The software applications developer will join a team that develops, tests, and documents web-based applications. Our software is developed using PHP with Symfony and Drupal. We use Atlassian tools to organize, document, and track our development processes.
The primary task of the software applications developer will be to design and implement software solutions to meet requirements of the GRIIDC program. You will develop and implement unit tests, as needed, to ensure the system remains operable before new software is deployed. You will create detailed documentation to describe system software, unit tests, and processes. Working closely with team members you will track progress through an issue tracking system to ensure timely delivery of software products. As the GRIIDC system is operational, you will also address software bugs by investigating issues and developing solutions to make sure the operational system is maintained. Your technical expertise will be used to provide guidance and advice to the administrative team and to collaboratively solve problems with the software engineering team.
GRIIDC is based out the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
