Opportunity: Postdoctoral Position – Marine Field Station Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, Rutgers University

Position Description: The Marine Field Station, part of the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences (IMCS) at Rutgers University, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with interests in the effects of chemical contaminants on growth and survival of estuarine fishes. The research will focus on effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on growth and survival of killifishes. It is anticipated that research activities will include (1) field sampling in the Gulf of Mexico; (2) laboratory analysis of otoliths (growth increment analysis and laser ablation); (3) population modeling.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in fisheries science or related field. Ability to work well with a team of faculty, graduate students, undergraduate summer interns, and staff. All post-doc applicants must have successfully completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with otolith microchemistry, growth increment analysis, stable isotope analysis, and population dynamics.
Terms: Initial appointment for one year with possible renewal for a second and third year. Starting salary $45,000.
Start Date: As soon as possible, but no later than May 2012.
