Overview
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking an entry-level Research Technician with experience in environmental or analytical organic chemistry. The primary responsibility of a successful candidate is to perform analyses and conduct experiments for a research program in marine pollution run by a senior research scientist.
The position is full time, initially funded for 10 months with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory review and additional funding. All applications will be acknowledged upon receipt. The position will remain open until filled, but review of applicants will begin May 5, 2017.
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. After a training period, applicants should be able perform tasks like analyzing samples using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, conducting toxicity assays, and keeping an organized and well-documented laboratory. Occasional fieldwork might be included.
