Postdoctoral Investigator – Environmental Analytical Chemistry: Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) & Haverford College
We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of environmental analytical chemistry. The project involves complex mixture analysis by qualitative and quantitative mass spectrometry. The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of environmental sample analysis, including sample preparation, mass spectrometry, and data processing. Additional needs for LC/MS method development and/or computational tool design may arise during the project.
The applicant will be based at WHOI but will have extensive opportunities for collaboration in molecular biology with colleagues and undergraduates at Haverford College. A PhD in chemical oceanography, biogeochemistry, analytical chemistry or a related field is required. Experience with mass spectrometry and downstream data analysis is also required. Knowledge of programming tools such as Matlab and R would be advantageous.
Candidates with interests in linking chemical and biological datasets are especially encouraged to apply.
The position is available for one year, renewable for a maximum of two years. Interested candidates should apply online. Inquiries should be addressed to ekujawinski@whoi.edu. Application review will begin January 2, 2013.
