Opportunity: Postdoctoral Position, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

The Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences (www.bigelow.org) is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position to lead independent research in the laboratory of Dr. Christoph Aeppli.
This GoMRI RFP-V funded work aims to link oil compositional changes in the environment to bioavailability and effects. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in environmental sciences, oceanography, chemistry, or similar field. Preferred qualifications are an ability and interest to work across disciplines, hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as gas or liquid chromatography, strong organizational skills, and good written and oral communication skills. Experience with data manipulation (MATLAB, R), molecular modeling, or fieldwork is a plus. The preferred candidate will have published (or submitted) his/her dissertation chapters in peer-reviewed journals.
Research will be conducted primarily at the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay, Maine, with opportunities for sampling in the Gulf of Mexico and collaboration with investigators from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Florida State University. The position is offered for two years and is available immediately. Salary will be commensurate with prior experience.
